Underwater! He had fallen into an an underground well! He grasped at the mossy walls, trying to claw his way to the surface, to the life-giving air that the crushing fall had stolen form him, but murky liquid seemed to have no end, an infinite cosmos of dimly lit airlessness. His lungs were on fire, his chest burning to gasp in the air, the water, anything.
He gave one final reach for sunlight, for salvation, but found only the rock and dirt that had collapsed under him just a few moments ago. His muscles ached from the lack of breath, His heartbeat that was rapid started to slow, the adrenaline still coursing through his system did nothing to speed it. His vision faded to slowly to darkness, an everlasting blackness like he had never thought was possible.
He opened his mouth and inhaled the water, deciding that even it could quench the burning in his chest....

a giant sponge fell from the sky, falling into the pit of water, soaking it all up, leaving the Elephant, in a dark, dreary pit.
